Working Through Obstacles

I Was Ailing When I Wrote This Related image

This Won’t Take Too Long

As I write this, my head is throbbing.  I was hit with one monster of a stomach virus.  Rarely, does this sort of thing happen to me, in fact, I don’t remember that last time I felt this horrible.  I even considered skipping Sunday’s Afrologik blog, but pride wouldn’t allow me to take a hiatus.  Admittedly, I am disappointed, because I’ve been working on a piece that was intended for today, but I’m just too sick to finish it.  Oh well, I’ll share that one some other day.

Pushing Through It

There was a time when suddenly becoming sick would have provided me with an excellent excuse to “take a break“.  After all, I certainly didn’t plan on getting sick.  And, of course, I’d rather not be sick. So, this “break” wouldn’t be my fault, it would be fate…kinda.  However, I can’t decide which is the most agonizing for me: actually being sick, or not having an article to post for Sunday. I’ll say that the idea of not having an article was most painful.  Despite being exhausted, in pain, and kinda seeing double, here I am writing.

Get Into The Groove

When you find your groove — that one thing that nothing can ever stop you from doing — you’ve found that which breathes life into you.  You’ve also found that thing that gives you the ability to give life.  Our life’s groove (we all have them), is our reasons to keep going.  As for me, a person who has never been able to truly commit to anything, I’m elated and proud of myself (because you can’t know how badly that I really just want to close this laptop, and knock out).  But, I’m not writing this to display self pride for my commitment and tenacity, but instead, to tell you all that meeting your goals are largely dependent on your commitment. What are you willing to work through? How important is it to you?

When something is in your heart to do, you will follow it through bumpy roads, fiery hoops, jungles, and gang territories, to get what you KNOW (not believe, but know) is yours.  We give our all to employers everyday, but we should work harder for ourselves than we do for them, to stay on task with our own goals.

Remember What Mama Said…

Remember when you were a kid, and was too “sick” to go to school, so your mother let you stay home? And, after school was out, you’d hear the other kids outside playing, and you wanted to go outside with them, but what did your mom say? “If you were too sick to go to school, you’re too sick to go outside and play“.  Mama’s logic works here also, if you have time and energy to go to work for someone else (which many of us do, even while sick), then you certainly have the time and energy to work on your own goals.  In fact, your dreams and goals are more important than any job.

It Could Be A Test

It’s my belief that the Universe throws these kinds of obstacles at us to test our strength.  We say that we want and need so much, but the Source needs to know how serious we are about what we ask for. It needs to see how easily we will become complacent, or give up, before making a decision to gift us.

Regardless of where life is taking you, remain steadfast and make time for the things that you want for yourself.  Chances are, the things that you want won’t come easily.  But, you’re strong and resilient.  You know what’s most important to you.

So, now, I’m just gonna go back to sleep.

“I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed”.
